Travel & Hotel

For those presenting or  commenting at the conference, we have rooms at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Downtown Providence. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the conference venue (but the walk is up a very steep hill most of the way).

If you are in town Thursday evening, please join us at The Wild Colonial Tavern – it’s a very short walk from the hotel. We plan to gather there from 8-10pm.

Below is a map that shows the hotel, the train station, the bar where we meet Thursday evening, and the restaurant where we have dinner Saturday, and the conference venue:

The hotel has supplied a shuttle that will take us from the hotel to the conference venue in the morning (and back again in the evening).

Here are the scheduled departure times:

Friday, October 27th:
From hotel to venue, three departures: 9AM, 9:15am, and 9:30am.
There is no shuttle returning to the hotel Friday evening.
Saturday, October 28th
From hotel to venue, three departures: 9AM, 9:15am, and 9:30am.
From venue to hotel, three departures: 6:30PM, 6:45PM, and 7pm.
Sunday, October 29th
From hotel to venue, three departures: 9AM, 9:15am, and 9:30am.
From venue to hotel, three departures: 1:00PM, 1:15PM, and 1:30PM.

Travel

Providence is  accessible by Amtrak or by air to TF Green Airport. From the airport you can take the commuter rail to Providence train station. Providence train station is a ten minute walk from the hotel. 

You can also get from Logan Airport in Boston to Providence by taking either Amtrak or commuter rail from Boston South Station. You can get to South Station from Logan by cab (about $25) or by taking the Silver Line of the Boston T (no charge).
